Biography

Amanda is one of the founding partners of Messrs Amanda Pang & Yee and an Advocate & Solicitor with a focus on cross border commercial transactions and disputes. She is also a Registered Trademark Agent in Malaysia and regularly advises NGOs, government and private sectors in matters relating to brand strategy.

Some of Amanda’s recent notable transactions include the corporate restructuring of public listed companies in Malaysia, representing international entities in cross border claims and advising on and facilitating the setting up of foreign trust structures.

Amanda’s practice extends to non-contentious matters such as Intellectual Property registration and advisory, and Alternative Dispute Resolution i.e. mediation, arbitration, negotiation and out-of-court settlement.

Presently, Amanda is the appointed Legal Advisor of Malaysia Digital Chamber of Commerce (MDCC), an organization that promotes the use of digital technology in commerce in Malaysia. She is also a fellow member of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association (MIPA), the Asian International Arbitration Centre Young Practitioners Group (AIAC YPG) and the Malaysian Bar Council Legal Aid Committee.

An alumna of Cardiff University, Amanda graduated with Bachelor of Law (Hons) and holds a Master’s degree in International Commercial (and Trademark) Laws. She was enrolled as a Barrister-at-Law of Middle Temple before being admitted to the Malaysian Bar.

Notable ASSIGNMENTs

  • Acted for a public listed company and its subsidiaries in opposing various suits filed against them, including winding up petitions, debt recovery and breach of contract claims involving RM300 million debts.
  • Represented a public listed company in International Arbitration for a breach of contract and fraud dispute involving a sum of approximately USD1 million.
  • Represented a group of Malaysian companies in intervening a judicial management proceeding involving total claim sum of approximately RM30 million.
  • Acted for a major foreign company in a post-liquidation suit to recover a sum of approximately RM340 million.
  • Acted for a major corporate recovery firm in Malaysia in several winding up proceedings.
  • Advised and facilitate the setting up of a Foreign Grantor Trust
  • Acted for clients in various shareholder disputes, employment disputes and other company-related disputes.
